CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Bonnie L. Derhammer, age 56, of Chocolay Township, entered eternal life on Monday, October 1, 2012, in the loving care of her family and caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice. Born May 22, 1956, in St. Ignace, a daughter of Clyde and Mary (Riley) Martin, Bonnie had been a Marquette area resident for the past eight years, and had been employed as a cook at the Norlite Nursing Center.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Doug Derhammer; daughters, Jessica Martin and Danielle (Brian) Burke; stepchildren, Tammy Jo, Douglas Jr., and Angela; grandchildren, Emma and Andrew Burke; and stepgrandchildren, Samantha, Katrice, Amanda, and Kaylee; her sisters, Diane (Ted) Miller, Linda (Dean) Lenius, Gloria (Les) Dunham, and Brenda (Steve) Schlesner; brothers, Clyde Martin, Rickey (Laurie) Marin, Ronald Martin, and Robert (Ruth) Martin; many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Clyde Savard; and a sister, Debbie Simonds.
Honoring Bonnie's request, a family Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 4, at 5:00 p.m., in Bonnie's backyard, 111 Pinebrook Drive. Memorials may be directed to the family.
