Marquette Squirt Sentinels sweep on opening weekend

ALPENA - Returnees Braydon Stannard, Cooper Anderson and Jacob Peterson led the Marquette Squirt AA Sentinels to three victories over the Alpena Thunder Bay Wrecks over the weekend to open the 2012-13 season.

Marquette totaled a pair of victories on Saturday, 6-2 and 10-0.

In Game 2, goalie Carsen Hayes stopped 29 shots for the shutout.

Stannard led the team with eight goals and two assists, followed by Anderson with five goals and one assist. Additional tallies came from Ethan Sellers, Peterson, and Ansel Frost.

Frost, Peterson, Jacob Hendrickson and Joseph Luke recorded two assists each, while Anderson, Stannard, Evan Kroll and Andrew Fedrizzi each had a single assist.

Marquette won 8-2 on Sunday with Hayes turning away 14 shots.

Stannard and Anderson each had a hat trick while Luke and Peterson added the other goals. Lucas Guertin and Sellers had two assists.

Anderson, Frost, McCoy, Kroll and Peterson each had one assist.
