MARQUETTE, Mich. - Rosemary Walin, age 79, of 2040 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, September 30, 2012, at her home, in the loving, comforting care of her family and friends.
Rosemary was born January 14, 1933 in Marquette, a daughter of Adolph "Doc" and Alice (Vadnais) Swenor. She married Rudolph M. "Mike" Walin on April 11, 1953, and the couple resided for a brief time in Marquette before moving to Montana where Mike was stationed with the US Air Force.
Following his honorable discharge, the couple returned to Marquette where Mike worked in his father's electric shop, Walin's Electric, and Rosemary took on the duties of wife and homemaker. For a time, she was employed at St. Luke's Hospital in their housekeeping department. Rosemary's life was centered around her home, and her children and grandchildren were her life. She enjoyed shopping and decorating her home. Rosemary was a member of St. Peter Cathedral.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Ed) Molise of Three Lakes, WI and Lisa Marie (Steven) Morgan of Plymouth, WI; sons, Michael Walin of Plymouth, WI, Tim Walin, and Greg (Danielle) Walin both of Marquette; her grandchildren, Mike Walin, Kevin Walin, Susie Smith, Tina Swanson, Tyler Walin, Paige Morgan, Jadenne Walin; great-grandchildren, Matthew Walin, Justin Walin, Mike Smith, Stephanie Smith, Kaylie Washburn, Kyle Winters, Samantha Washburn, and Anthony Walin; her sisters, Florence Gezella of Green Bay, WI, Shirley Koepp, Elizabeth (Arthur) Belanger, Joyce (James) Constance, Mary (Oscar) Haglund, and Lois (Marvin) Gibson all of Marquette; brothers, Robert (Margaret) Swenor and Donald (Elizabeth) Swenor all of Marquette; sister-in-law, Betty Swenor of Marquette; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Rudolph "Mike" Walin, Rosemary was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kaye Walin; a sister, Nancy Swenor; a brother, William "Russell" Swenor; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Betty Lou Swenor, Louis and Mary Ann Swenor; brothers-in-law, Adolph Gezella and Howard Koepp; and nephews, Michael A. Haglund, Michael L. Swenor, and Thomas L. Swenor.
Friends may call at the Bishop's Room located at St. Peter Cathedral on Tuesday, October 2, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the cathedral at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber, pastor, as celebrant. A coffee and dessert reception will follow in Cathedral Hall.
