September 30, 2012
The Mining Journal

Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter Board President Reva Laituri accepts a no-kill award recently from Michigan Pet Fund Alliance member Cheryl Gault and Pet Fund Alliance chairwoman Deborah Schutt. The alliance named Marquette County as one of 11 communities in the state that qualified for the award, with a save rate of at least 90 percent of its shelter animals. In addition to Marquette, other U.P. counties receiving the award included Gogebic, Keweenaw, Houghton, Baraga, Alger and Chippewa.
