STONINGTON - Michigan State Police have released the names of the victim and driver in a fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident that occurred Thursday morning in Delta County.

State police at the Gladstone post said Kenneth Rogus, 73, of downstate Oxford was killed in the accident, which occurred a little after 8 a.m. Thursday on New Wilsey Bay Road in the Stonington area of Bay de Noc Township.

Police said Rogus was walking in the roadway when he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck driven by Paul McCarty, 31, of Rapid River.

Rogus was pronounced dead at the scene.

A state police traffic crash reconstructionist was called to aid in the investigation, which continues. Speed was not believed to be a factor in the accident, police said.
