SC takes control of Central U.P. volleyball standings

EBEN - Superior Central moved a game ahead of Mid Peninsula in the loss column with a 3-0 victory over the Wolverines at the Cougars' gym on Thursday night.

SC won 25-19, 25-17, 25-15 to improve to 5-1 in Central Upper Peninsula Conference, while Mid Peninsula slipped to 7-2 in league play.

"We played very balanced tonight," SC coach Kris Bray said. "Everyone contriubted evenly and effectively, and we were able to keep them off balance in every rotation.

"Our attacks were the best I've seen all season."

Senior Kelsey Coleman led the offense with eight kills and six aces while adding four digs, two blocks and an assist. Junior Vanessa Freberg had seven kills, an ace, 10 digs and five assists, and senior Lindsey Richmond had 22 assists to go with three kills, four aces and three digs.

The Cougars' JV team also won, 7-25, 25-17, 15-8.
