Dwighton N. Eckler

THREE LAKES, Mich. - Dwighton N. Eckler, age 81, of 24516 Ruth Lake Road, Three Lakes, entered eternal life Tuesday morning, September 25, 2012, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

Born April 20, 1931, in Farmington, a son of William and Mabel (Gray) Eckler, Dwight, was raised in Plymouth where he attended school and was active in sports. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Following his honorable discharge, he was employed with the National Bank of Detroit and then Ford Motor Company in Plymouth, where he worked as a foreman in material handling (climate control), retiring in 1986. In retirement, he spent his winters in the warm sun of Arizona. Dwight was an avid outdoorsman and his indoor activities included a love of playing bridge, reading, and enjoying the company of friends young and old.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Mary Ellen (Fryfogle) Eckler; his daughter, Andrea (Brian) Giddens; a son, Brent Eckler; stepdaughter, Kathy (Leroy) Snooks; stepson, William J. (RaeAnn) Knopf; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; and an aunt, Erma Gray.

Honoring his request, no services will be scheduled.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors, staff, and members of the Jacobetti Home for Veterans for the wonderful, compassionate care, and many kindnesses extended to Dwight and his family.

Memorials may be directed to the Activity Fund at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, 425 Fisher Street, Marquette, MI 49855.
