HARVEY, Mich. - William "Bill" Malandrone, age 64, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday morning, September 23, 2012, at his home, in the loving, comforting care of his family and caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.
Bill was born May 12, 1948 in Iron Mountain, MI, a son of William J. and Marcelle (Wixtrom) Malandrone. Bill was raised in the Marquette area and was a 1966 graduate of Marquette Senior High School. During his high school career Bill was known for his athletic skills on the high school basketball team.
Following graduation from high school, he enrolled at Michigan Tech University pursuing a degree in engineering and later enrolled at Northern Michigan University where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Technology. After college Bill joined his father in the family business working as a carpenter for Lake States Construction and later serving the role as company president.

In 1990 Bill went on to work for the City of Marquette serving as the Sexton of the Park Cemetery until his retirement in 2009. Bill always took great pride in his role as sexton and let the Park Cemetery be known for its beautiful gardens and grounds. In his spare time Bill was an avid outdoorsman who cherished the time spent at camp with his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Marcelle Malandrone Houlmont; his loving wife of 24 years, Julia; his daughter, Kimberly Malandrone of Marquette; three sons, Scott (Arlene) Malandrone of Folsom, CA, Brian Malandrone of Hollister, CA, and Ryan (fiancee Kaylyn Krebs) Malandrone of Green Bay, WI; three grandchildren, Lauren and Erik Malandrone and Kiersten Swanson; two sisters, Gail (Roger) Kneeland of Valparaiso, IN and Patti (Robert) Hughes of Grand Marais, MI and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father William J. Malandrone in 1979 and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Friday September 28, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon David Adler officiating. Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery and a reception will be held at the American Legion.
