First- and second-grade students at Crossroads Christian Academy celebrated Curious George Day in honor of author H.A. Rey's September birthday. They studied the vocabulary and writing patterns found in the popular monkey stories. Their culminating project was to practice writing as they produced their own cause and effect book, "Curious First and Second Graders." Seen "monkeying around" under the banana tree displayed in the school hallway are (back, from left) Ethen Willard, Sadie Hildebrand, Daila Rye, Emersen Willard, and Jonah Smith. Kneeling are Josie Hildebrand and Rachel Collins. The children are students of Susan Syria.
