ISHPEMING - A utility pole fire caused a power outage for hundreds of Ishpeming residents Monday evening, according to the Upper Peninsula Power Co.

At its peak, the outage left 860 people without power, beginning at around 6 p.m. Power was restored to customers at about 12:15 a.m. today.

Lisa Prunty, manager of public relations for UPPCO, said a cause of the fire has not been determined and that crews had worked throughout the night to restore power to customers.

"Some of those customers were put back on rather quickly," Prunty said.
