Impolite response

September 15, 2012
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

(On a recent) Sunday afternoon with heavy holiday traffic, on Lakeshore Boulevard, an adult biker going north chose to ride on the road and was obstructing traffic big time. Across the road is the bike path.

As we (my son, granddaughter and I) passed him after much delay, from the passenger window I suggested he use the bike path for his safety. He yelled back, "You run me off the road and I'll kill you." His response astonished and upset me and my granddaughter.

Talk about radical drivers. How about radical bikers? What's up with bikers not using the paths when available? Some time ago a biker was riding on U.S. 41 between Harvey and Marquette with the path alongside.

Imagine the havoc and danger of that situation. I don't get it. Do they think they are invincible or just lack of common sense? Tell me.
