To the Journal editor:
(It appears that) that Ishpeming councilwoman and mayor pro tem Claudia Demarest has so little on her agenda these days that she has decided the idle wind turbine at the high rise apartments is an apparent eye sore to the community and should be removed
I challenge her to take a drive around the city of Ishpeming and take note of some of the dilapidated houses and apartments in the downtown and nearby areas. I would think she should be "tired of looking at" those, and take on the landlords who own them.
Considering the wind turbine has been in place for less than two years, I can't see why she would feel compelled to demand the Ishpeming Housing Commission take it down. Yes it is frustrating that it isn't operating, but I would hardly consider it worth the city council's time or effort.
Maybe they should find out what the council can do to make sure Clean Green Energy, LLC, follows through on their plans to install a working wind turbine instead.
I wonder if the residents on the north side of the high rise are sick of looking at the idle Mather Inn, and feel it should be completed or torn down? Now there's a cause worth championing, Ms. Demarest.
