ISHPEMING, Mich. - Oliver Roy Emard, age 86, formerly of 111 Bluff Street, Ishpeming, and former Gwinn resident, entered eternal life Monday morning, September 10, 2012, at the Mather Nursing Center.
Oliver was born July 7, 1926 in Brampton, a son of Roy Peter and Clarion Inger (Loveless) Emard. He was raised in Gwinn, moving to Marquette at age 11. He resided in Marquette most of his lifetime, and was employed by the former Marquette Coal Dock Company as a crane operator for over 20 years. He retired in 1968 due to disability, and moved back to the Gwinn area in 1998. He had been an Ishpeming resident since 2009.
Survivors include 5 daughters, Theresa (Charles) Benzing of Harvey, Inger Emard of Negaunee, Eileen (Scott) Bell of Harvey, Rose (Craig) Emard of Contonment, FL, and Christine (Clifford) Johnson of Ishpeming; 2 sons, Oliver Emard of Gwinn, and Michael (Rose Anne) Emard of Marquette; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Arlene "Sis" Little of Olivets, Lois (Ken) Granger of Grand Rapids, and Jeanette Goodman of Christopher, IL; 3 brothers, Raymond (Betty) Emard of Milwaukee, WI, Daniel (Vondetta) Emard of Battle Creek, and Leslie Emard of Eaton Rapids; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Oliver was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Elizabeth (Paquette) Emard; his parents, Roy and Clarion (Loveless) Emard; his in-laws, Henry and Marie (Berry) Paquette; 2 daughters- in-law, Diane Emard and Amy Emard; a son-in-law, John Irish; and a grandson, Darrell Michael Prahm; 4 brothers, Howard, Ronald, Roy "Sunny," and Larry Emard; a sister, Dora Emard; 3 brothers-in-law, Ken Little, George Goodman, and Henry Paquette; 3 sisters-in-law, Stella Emard, Rosemary Emard, and Ruth Emard.
Honoring Oliver's request, no visitation or services will be held.
