NEWBERRY - Brenda Owen was recently named executive director of the Michigan Association of Timbermen in Newberry.
Owen joined the association as the director of policy and programming in December and has been filling many of the duties of the vacant executive director position since.
She graduated from Michigan Tech University in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in forest management.
Owen has been a resident of the Newberry area since 1993 and lives with her teen son Tate Miller and husband, Scott Owen. She is active in the local sports booster club and is a member of the Michigan Society of American Foresters.
