Senior convention in Escanaba

ESCANABA - The Annual Upper Peninsula Senior Convention will be held on Sept. 18 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.

This years theme is the "Wild, Wild West." Activities will include several informational exhibits and health screenings.

Exhibitors will provide free blood pressure checks, oxygen testing, and other health screening. Flu and pneumonia vaccines will also be available this year for a fee, but Medicare will be billed for those covered by Medicare Part B. People on Medicare wishing to participate in the immunization clinic should bring their Medicare card.

Dr. Anthony Kamerschen of the OSF Medical Group and Kari Sederburg, Director of the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging will be the keynote speakers.

The cost is $7 per person. For information, dial 211 from anywhere in the U.P. Registration deadline is Friday.
