Anne C. Babbitt

ISHPEMING, Mich. - Anne C. Babbitt, age 85, of Ishpeming and Negaunee entered eternal life Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Woodland Senior Living Community under the loving care of her family, Woodland staff and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Anne was born May 30, 1927 in Norwich, CT to Joseph and Claire (Moore) Plante. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1945. Anne had a long career in the secretarial field and retired in 1992 as the Office Manager of the State of CT, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Dept. in Norwich.

Anne married Albert (Bud) Z. Babbitt on September 3, 1960. They lived their entire married life in Norwich, CT where they raised a son, Albert, and daughter, Cheryl. After Bud's passing in 2005, Anne moved to Ishpeming, MI to live with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She enjoyed extended vacations with her son and daughter-in-law in both Kennesaw, GA and Las Vegas, NV. Anne moved to Woodland Assisted Living (now Woodland Senior Living Community) in July 2011. There, she enjoyed bingo, crafts and coffee time. She made some wonderful friends late in life, including Betty Havela and Ruth Rogers.

Anne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bud; brother, Joseph Plante and sister, Mary Lemoine.

Anne is survived by her son, Albert J. (Yvonne) Babbitt of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Cheryl (John) LaFountain of Ishpeming, MI; beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan LaFountain; brother, Louis Plante of Lebanon, CT; brother-in-law, Ernest (Susan) Babbitt of Norwich, CT; sisters-in-law, Gladys Rioux of Brooklyn, CT, Alice Grimshaw of East Hampton, CT and Helen Babbitt of Occum, CT; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Kathy Jacey of Waterford, CT and Flo McGill of Norwich, CT.

Anne was a loving and generous wife, mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. She will be greatly missed by all.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Michael J. Prevost and staff, Woodland Senior Living Community and UP Home Health & Hospice for the caring attention given to Anne.

There will be a memorial service officiated by Father Greg Heikkala of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Ishpeming at Woodland Senior Living Community in Negaunee on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
