MARQUETTE, Mich. - Shelly Marie Johnson, 51, of Marquette, Michigan, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, WI. Shelly was born on March 8, 1961, in Crystal Falls, Michigan, the daughter of Melvin and Elaine Johnson, who reside in Mansfield. She graduated from Forest Park High School in 1979, where she was in band and marched with the flag corp. She was a member and Past Honored Queen of Bethel #39, Crystal Falls. She graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1984, with a degree in Office Administration.
Shelly worked as the bailiff and court scheduler for the Marquette County District Court, starting within the court system in 1984. She served on the Board of Directors for the Marquette County Humane Society, now UPAWS, serving as secretary and treasurer, as well as helping to coordinate the annual auction/ fundraiser. Through the Wright-Filippis Foundation, she provided an annual scholarship for a child to attend Bay Cliff Summer Camp.
She is survived by her father and mother, Melvin and Elaine Johnson, two aunts, Marion Johnson and Ilene Koelbeck, a sister, Marsha Wainio (Roy), two brothers, Rodney Johnson (Marion), and Dale Johnson (Deann), nieces: Faith Kuzak (J.W.), Kristel Johnson, and Katie Johnson, nephews: Jason Johnson (Michelle), and David Johnson (Heather), grandnephews: Nathan and Trent Johnson; Donavon and Robert Kuzak, many cousins, and her beloved pets: Lucy, Toby, Gabby and Emme.

There is a visitation scheduled on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm (EST) at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marquette. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm (EST) at the church. Rev. Steve Hulke will officiate. There is a second visitation scheduled on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in her memory.
