EBEN - The Superior Central Cougars improved to 2-0 with a 27-10 home victory over Bellaire on Friday afternoon in a Bridge Alliance Conference eight-man football game.
Four players found the end zone for the Cougars, while two of their defensive backs came away with interceptions.
SC scored on its opening drive with a 30-yard pass from Trevor Maki to Bryce Richard. The defense then got the ball back into the hands of their offense, but Bellaire (0-2) managed to get a safety on Superior Central after a botched snap.
The Cougars then capitalized on a drive that ended with a five-yard pass from Maki to Dan Steward, followed by another drive ending with four-yard touchdown run by Colton Gauthier.
Bellaire finally reached the end zone, and added the two-point conversion for the final margin.
Although they came away with a win, Cougars coach Chris Messano still saw room for improvement.
"Our passing game was just not there today," he said. "We struggled, so we had to rely heavily on the run. But looking back on it, we had four different players score, plus the two interceptions."
He also added that their defense has been playing great, only allowing 18 total points in two games.
The Cougars host conference foe Posen at 4 p.m. Thursday.
