Mary Eleanor Grawn

NEGAUNEE, MI. - Mary Eleanor Grawn, 75, of 620 Carr St., Negaunee, died at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital where she had been a patient for 10 days.

Mary was born August 14, 1937 in Ishpeming to Leonard and Bertha (Hahka) Pellow, was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1955 and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member and former past president of the Negaunee Eagles Club #1944 Auxiliary and sang with the club's group, the Cellar Dwellers. Her hobbies included camping, knitting, sewing, piano, and violin. She was a loving homemaker who most enjoyed being with her family and friends. While raising her six children there was always a large community of friends around her home, many of them considered Mary and Jim like parents.

Surviving are one son, Michael (Sue) Grawn of South Bend, IN, 4 daughters: Linda (Dan) Rose of Negaunee, Cathy Fowler of Ishpeming, Debbie (Joseph) Durfee of Negaunee, Stephanie (Doug) Guay of Menominee, 9 grandchildren: Jason Smith, Amber Herman, Steven Smith, Megan Mouser, Caitlin Fowler, Chelsea Nikula, Hannah Rowley, Lindsey Guay, & Mariah Guay, 7 great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Patricia Carlson of Apache Junction, AZ, Leona (Victor) Orr of Suomi Location, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frederick "Jim" Grawn on April 30, 2011, her son, Fredrick "Jim" Grawn, Jr. on July 7, 2011, an infant son, Steven Grawn, a granddaughter, Kelli Tossava on Dec. 23, 2006, an infant brother, Leonard Pellow, Jr., and a sister, Irene Kunick on May 22, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Marcia Solberg, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:30 PM until the time of services at 5:00 PM at the Koskey Funeral Home on Tuesday.
