MARQUETTE - Four Marquette-area players helped lead the 2001 Great Lakes Blues summer hockey team to the championship of the Easton Cup AAA Tournament in Minneapolis last weekend.

MVP goaltender Tyler Bergwall had a stellar weekend in net, while Thomas Dunleavy, Kobie Guidebeck and Sean O'Connor all scored goals.

Bergwall stopped 25 shots in the Blues' 4-2 victory over Total Hockey Fusion of Minneapolis in the championship game as the netminder amassed a 5-0-1 record during the event.

In the title tilt, Great Lakes jumped out to a 2-0 lead only to have THF tie it at 2-2. Then Green Bay, Wis., resident Simon Ellingson scored the game-winner early in the third, with insurance added by Escanaba' Luke Labre.

Bergwall, Guidebeck and O'Connor will play for the Marquette Sentinels PeeWee AA team this winter, while Dunleavy will play defense for the AAA Green Bay Gamblers.
