MARQUETTE - High E. coli bacteria levels have forced city officials to close Marquette's South Beach for the rest of the swimming season.
According to a press release, the city is closing the beach for recreational swimming as a precautionary measure. City officials are working with the Superior Watershed partnership, a local nonprofit, to investigate and track potential sources of contamination in the area, according to the release.
All other beaches remain open at this time.
