Getting neighborly

August 28, 2012
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

Meeting new neighbors and renewing old friendships was the theme for our block party on the 1300 block of Kimber Avenue on Aug. 10. While the weather was a bit windy, everyone seemed to have a good time, shooting the breeze, as we say.

As usual lots of good food was an important part of the party as well as games for the kids. They always enjoy the water balloons too. The popcorn machine was a big hit as well.

"Thank you" goes out to Amy Mattson for her help in getting this going each year, Marquette City Assistant Engineer Greg Borzick for getting the necessary paper work and road closure signs for us, Marquette County Sheriff Mike Lovelace who graced us with his presence and firemen Brian Phillips, Ben Wilder, Dan Lancour and Matt Jackson whom we enjoy having stop by with the big firetruck.

We also want to thank everyone who helped set up and clean up, your help is deeply appreciated and last but not least to all the neighbors who came together to help make this event a successful one.

Dan, Pat Benson

and wonderful neighbors
