GWINN, Mich. - Paul David Baysore, 63, of Gwinn, passed away, Saturday morning, August 25, 2012, at his home, with his family by his side and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
He was born December 27, 1948, in Mason, Ohio, a son of James and Ada (Mockabee) Baysore.
Following a 4-year enlistment with the U.S. Navy, Paul received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Northern Florida. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1971 and was a navigator aboard the KC-135. Paul retired in 1991 from KI Sawyer AFB with the rank of Major. Paul then worked as a school teacher for 17 years at the Bay Pines Detention Center.

He was a member of the Little Lake American Legion Post #349, the Carney American Legion Post and the Gwinn VFW.
His greatest hobby was serving as an umpire at softball games and as a referee for high school football for many years. Paul also loved going to camp in Nadeau.
He is survived by his wife, Joleen Baysore of Gwinn; children, Kellie Baysore of Des-Moines, Iowa, Terri Erbes of Eagan, Minn., and Alex Baysore of Gwinn; a grandchild, Kiley Baysore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jim and Tom Baysore.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rell Spickerman officiating. Visitation will also be held in the church for one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Lake Superior Hospice Association or the American Cancer Society.
