BIG BAY - Gene Aho of Marquette was the lone local player to win a title, but several others from the area had high finishes at the 2012 Cracked Court Classic tennis tournament held recently in Big Bay.

Aho teamed with Brandon Ellefson of Ann Arbor to win the men's doubles title, defeating Rick Halverson of Marquette and David Reeves of Traverse City in the championship match.

In women's doubles, Erinn Anttila of Menominee and Candace Charles of Crystal River, Fla., held off Pat Blewett of Ishpeming and Sally Reeves of Traverse City in that final.

And in mixed doubles, Charles and Tim Viola of Chassell captured the title by beating Brett Girard of Marquette and Mary Vaisanen of Forest Lake in the finale.

Here are the consolation round winners (with last match if available) and special award winners:

Consolation - Men: Josh Kitto (Ishpeming)-Nick Cartier (Big Bay) def. Dave Giddens (Marquette)-Alan Parenteau (Plymouth); Women: Mary Hunter (Marquette)-Kathy Olivier (Big Bay); Mixed: Anttila-David Reeves.

Special awards - "Skirt": Susie Wright (Marquette); Fun Club: Kyle Warner (Wayland), Noelle Cotey (Portage); Walking Wounded: Kitto.
