Local youth tennis players do well in GB

MARQUETTE - Some Marquette County youth tennis players showed their talent Aug. 17-19 at the Western Racquet Junior Tournament in Green Bay.

Alec Olivier, 11, of Marquette won the boys' 12U singles title by beating top seed Will Schneider of De Pere, Wis., 6-0, 6-4 in the semifinals and No. 2 seed Myles Krzewinski of Green Bay, 7-5, 6-2, in the final.

Dave Terzaghi of Negaunee won the consolation bracket of the boys' 18U singles competition. Spokesman Wayne Olivier said Terzaghi lost his first match before winning his last two to claim the consolation title.

Noah Gannon of Marquette took the consolation bracket of the boys' 16U singles division. Like Terzaghi, Gannon dropped his first match before taking his next two.

Thomas Bleau of Ishpeming lost in the consolation bracket finals of the boys' 14U class.
