Dolores ‘Toni’ S. Moon

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Dolores "Toni" S. Moon, age 86, of Marquette entered eternal life in the comfort of her home on Sunday evening, August 19, 2012.

Dolores was born on January 17, 1926, in Michigamme, Michigan. While spending the majority of her life in Marquette, she married Murray G. Moon Jr. on June 29, 1946; they raised two children, Stephen and Jan. Dolores was employed by Northern Michigan University Food Service Department for 23 years until her retirement in 1988. She also volunteered at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans. She enjoyed watching sports, especially Green Bay Packer games and Red Wing hockey games. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, word scramble games, playing Yahtzee, and reading. She loved to learn and always made sure to watch Jeopardy as a part of her daily routine. She also liked to cook and bake and was known for her wonderful banana bread. She had a love for dogs, especially German shepherds, and had numerous dogs throughout her life. She also enjoyed taking drives around Presque Isle, always making sure to take in the beauty of Sunset Point.

Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, Bill LaBelle; her mother, Martha LaBelle; her husband, Murray Moon; and an infant daughter, Nadeen Moon. Dolores is survived by two children: Stephen (Jo Ann) Moon, of Oshkosh, WI and Jan (Bruce) Helenbart of St. Charles, MO; two grandchildren: Mark (Stefanie) Moon of Brooklyn Park, MN and Jennifer Moon of Oshkosh, WI and one great-grandchild, Jera Jennings, of Oshkosh, WI. She is also survived by a step-brother, Art (Trudy) Saario of Marquette, MI; and special nieces and nephews.

Honoring Dolores' request, a private funeral and burial service will be held at Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home, Marquette, MI.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the honor of Dolores may be made to Lake Superior Hospice Association, 914 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855 or the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS) P.O. Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855.
