NEGAUNEE, MI. - Linda L. Johnson, 71, of Negaunee, passed away early Saturday morning, August 18, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital in the comfort of her family.
Linda was born on October 15, 1940 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a daughter of the late Stanley and Vida (Zimmerman) Miner.
She began working at the Marquette Branch Prison in 1981 as a staff nurse, later a supervisor until becoming Health Unit Manager in 1993. She retired after 20 years of service there. She was previously recognized as Nurse of the Year in the State of Michigan.

Linda formerly served on the board of directors of the U.P. 200 Sled Dog Association. She also volunteered at the vet check in the U.P. 200 Sled Dog races for many years.
She had attended Lake Superior Christian Church. In her free time she was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed going on long camping trips while her children were growing up.
Linda is survived by 8 children, Michael (Mary Lou) Harris of Anchorage, AK, Mark (Carol) Harris of Hartford, KS, Marie (Tim) LeMoine of Kansas City, KS, Becky Horrocks of Negaunee, Ron (Dohni) Johnson of Burlington, KS, Matt Johnson of Munising, Mike Keller of Florida and Vickie Johnson of Nebraska; 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sue Burdick of Marquette and Janet Lamb of Florida; a brother, Raymond Miner of Kalamazoo, MI; also several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a sister, Blanch Balis.
Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. in the funeral home with Jerry Kizzire of Lake Superior Christian Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
