TWIN LAKES - Recent Marquette Senior High School graduate Jordan Emerick was among three Upper Peninsula high school students to benefit with a scholarship from the 2012 Sibilsky/Kratt Memorial Golf Tournament held at Wyandotte Hills Golf Course in the Houghton County community of Twin Lakes.
In its 15th year, the event is held in memory of Jim Sibilsky and Jack Kratt and helps fund a $1,000 scholarship for an MSHS and two Jeffers High School students.
The Jeffers recipients were Matt Zerbst of Atlantic Mine and Brittany Nicholas of South Range.
This year's tournament championship flight was won by the team of Don Sibilsky, Russ Tripp, Rob Robinia and Bob Potvin, shooting 60 to win by two strokes.
Emerick graduated with honors from Marquette, compiling a 3.61 grade-point average and receiving the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award multiple times. He lettered for four years in golf and two years in basketball, captaining the Redmen varsity team as a senior.
He also volunteers as a youth basketball coach.
Zerbst golfed and played hockey at Jeffers, winning an ice award for leadership, character and sportsmanship, while Nicholas also golfed and was on the cheerleading squad, earning conference MVP honors in golf.
