ISHPEMING - Household Appliance held off Negaunee VFW 12-6 to hold onto first place in the Classic Division of the Ishpeming Twilight Horseshoe League on Wednesday.
A win by VFW would have given both teams a 9-2 record, but instead Household has a two-game lead.
In the other Classic match, last-place American Legion got by Willey's Tire Shop 12-6 to pull within a half-game of third place.
In the Major Division, Riverside Club remained undefeated with a narrow 10-8 win over Maki's Mini-Mart. Hickey's Bar downed Jack's TeePee Bar by the same count, while second-place Stonehouse stayed within three games of first with an 11-7 victory over Norm's Black Rail.
