MUNISING - Upper Peninsula locations figure prominently in the "Best of the Lake 2012" awards chosen by readers of Lake Superior Magazine.
The August-September issue features the results of readers' choice honors in 12 categories for destinations in Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ontario. Reader submissions were tallied from online, postcard and email votes. U.P. locations were selected in six categories, including Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore garnering three.
PIctured Rocks received awards in the categories of "Best Parks," "Best Places to Paddle" and "Best Views From an Overlook."

"We are honored to receive recognition from the readers of Lake Superior Magazine," Pictured Rocks Superintendent Jim Northup said. "This is indeed a very special place and it is nice to know that people appreciate all the park has to offer."
Other local award winners included the Marquette waterfront for "Best Boat Watching," The Landmark Inn in Marquette for "Best Overnight Stay" and the Holiday Inn Express in Munising for "Best Views: Lodging."
