Gwinn pride seen

August 16, 2012
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

I would just like to say that I am still in awe of what happened in Gwinn on last Friday.

The Gwinn Booster Club along with the new Athletic Director Rob Soyering kicked off the fall season of high school sports with the biggest bang ever. While the fall athletes were practicing Friday night, hundreds of people came out to watch and cheer them on.

The volleyball teams in the gym, tennis players on the courts, football players and cheerleaders on the field and the cross country team cooking hot dogs for the crowd (over 400 that is). There was face painting, games, slushies, and a bounce house for the families to enjoy.

The crowd packed the bleachers shoulder to shoulder to watch as all the fall athletes were introduced to the community, and to end the evening there was a fireworks show like no other.

What a community we live in to see so many people coming out and supporting our athletes. I would like to say thank you to all who attended, volunteered their time and talents, and to all the businesses for supporting this event, this could not have happened with out you.

Talk about Modeltowner madness!
