MARQUETTE, Mich. - Ann Louise Cook, 86, of 712 Hennepin Road, Marquette, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 14, 2012, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living in the comfort of her family and U.P. Home Health and Hospice.
Ann was born on November 16, 1926, in Marquette and is survived by her husband, Walter R. Cook; a son, Daniel Walter Cook and daughter-in-law Marilyn (Menucci) Cook, of Marquette; daughter, Margaret Louise (Cook) Ellis and son-in-law, Jay Ellis of Boynton Beach FL.; son-in-law, Robert Kahl of Marquette and two granddaughters, April (Kahl) Nedeau, her husband Justin Nedeau of Rapid River and Sarah (Kahl) Erickson and her husband Lucas Erickson of Appleton, WI; four great-grandsons. Also surviving are two brothers, John Blemberg and Ronald Blemberg; sisters, Jeanette (Blemberg) Pascoe, Margaret (Blemberg) Nystrom, and Leona (Blemberg) Kevern along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Ann (Cook) Kahl.
Ann was one of 15 children of the Blemberg family that grew up on Marquette's south side on Craig Street. She was a graduate of Bishop Baraga High School. Ann married Walter Cook after the end of World War II and raised three children on Ohio Street in Marquette. Besides being a homemaker and raising her family, Ann enjoyed being in card clubs and bowling teams.
Ann's last year was spent as a resident of Brookridge Heights in their Memory Care Unit. They took great care of Ann. Thank you to their wonderful staff. Ann's family would also like to thank U.P. Home Health and Hospice.
Visitation will take place at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. No services are scheduled at this time. Burial will occur in Northland Chapel Gardens.
