Gift appreciated

August 15, 2012
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

My family and I want to thank the kind and generous person who wishes to remain anonymous for the gift they left for me at Vango's on Aug. 9.

While having lunch with my family at Vango's the waitress delivered a gift of cash to me and reported it was a thank you from someone for serving our country.

We were amazed, touched and honored. I hope the patriot reads this to know how much it meant to me to be thanked for my service and just two days before my 88th birthday.

I am a Marquette native and World War II U.S. Navy veteran and I always wear my USS John Rodgers DD574 hat so that is how they knew.

I and my family say thank you we appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness.
