MARQUETTE - The inaugural 639 Festival is set for Aug. 18 in Carney and will feature The Monsters of Rock Tribute Tour. Headlining performers will be Led Zepagain (tribute to Led Zeppelin), Bonfire (tribute to AC/ DC) and Fan Halen (tribute to Van Halen).
Along with the tribute bands, festival will feature emerging local and regional bands playing throughout the day. They include Gator & The River Boys (county/rock), Nudge (hard rock), Batt Rastard (grunge rock), Flitch (rock/alternative), Runaway Train (country) and Road Head (rock).
Gates will open at noon CDT in downtown Carney, just off U.S. 41, with live performances from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Tickets are available online at 639fest.ticketleap.com, by phone at 906-748-1400 and at the following locations: Jim's Music Iron Mountain/Escanaba, Carney General Store, Carney American Legion Post 487 and Labelle's Inn in Powers. Tickets cost $20 in advance, or $25 at the gates the day of show. A portion of the sale proceeds and raffles done during the day will benefit local community fundraisers.
While the bands play there will be a variety of vendors and carnival themed attractions for all ages. Papa Murphy's Pizza and Little Nicky's food will each have their specialties, while the local organizations from the Carney schools will be selling the traditional burgers, brats, and hot dogs.
Alcohol will be provided by the local American Legion Post for ages 21 and older. Beverage booths will be available; outside coolers and containers will be prohibited.
