To the Journal editor:
I would like to voice my opinion on the gas prices in the Marquette area. I lived in Marquette for 50 years, went to Bishop Baraga High School then graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1971. I am appalled by the greed these gas stations owners are passing on to the citizens of our area.
It is true that the Pines gas station in Baraga has to get their gas also from Green Bay just like Marquette does. I understand that these owners in our area are running scared as they should be.
My question is where were these owners the last two or three years when they had the distinctive honor of being the most costly gas stations in the state of Michigan week after week? Now they want our support.
We can never recover the amount of money that we unnecessarily had to pay these owners. But we can stop this pain at the pump for the future by supporting the Keweenaw Pines gas stations.
The time has come to put an end to taking complete advantage of the people who live in the Marquette area. No more listening to con information from these owners. Let's bring on the Pines gas station and start saving money ourselves.
