Robles leads USOEC athletes in London

MARQUETTE - The United States Olympic Education Center at Northern Michigan University was represented by six former student-athletes at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

The last of the six athletes wrapped up competition on Tuesday. Here is how they all fared:

Sarah Robles,

Robles fared the best out of the six former USOEC athletes, finishing in seventh overall out of 14 entrants in the women's +75-kilogram division in her first Olympic appearance. Robles scored a snatch of 120 kg and a clean and jerk of 145 kg for a 265 kg total. Zhou Lulu of China won gold with a world record total of 333 kg.

Spencer Mango,

Greco-Roman wrestling

Mango finished 1-2 at 55 kg in his second Olympic appearance. Mango defeated Egypt's Abouhalima Abouhalima, 3-1, in the qualification round before falling 3-0 to silver medalist Rovshan Bayramov of Azerbaijan in the round of 16 and to bronze medalist Minglyan Semenov of Russia in a repechage match.

Ben Provisor, Greco-Roman wrestling

Provisor finished 1-1 at 74 kg in his first Olympics after topping Cuba's Alexei Bel, 3-1, in the qualification round. He lost to Georgia's Zurabi Datunashvili 3-0 in the round of 16.

Chas Betts, Greco-

Betts reached the 84 kg round of 16 via a 3-0 victory over Keitani Graham of Micronesia in the qualification round. Betts was eliminated from his first Olympics in his next match via a 3-0 loss to Cuba's Pablo Enrique Shorey Hernandez.

Ellis Coleman, Greco-Roman wrestling

Coleman failed to make it out of the 60 kg qualification round in his first Olympic games, losing to Bulgaria's Ivo Seraflmov Angelov, 3-1.

Justin Lester, Greco-Roman wrestling

Like Mango, Lester ran into an eventual Olympic medalist. After receiving a bye and beating Japan's Tsutomu Fujimura in the 66 kg round of 16 3-1, Lester lost to silver medalist Tamas Lorincz of Hungary, 3-1 in the quarterfinals. He then was eliminated by Germany's Frank Staebler in a repechage match, 3-0.
