Carol Sanregret Thomas

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - Carol Sanregret Thomas, formerly of Negaunee, died peacefully in her sleep on July 29, 2012, at the age of 84.

She was born on July 7, 1928, in Ishpeming, Mich., to Margaret Andrus Sanregret and Roland J. Sanregret. Carol was a Campfire Girl growing up. She graduated from Negaunee High School in 1946, then from the University of Michigan. Carol married Stephen M. Thomas on January 19, 1950. She worked as a social worker before raising her family and then did volunteer work for the Girl Scouts. She spent many happy years with her family and friends at Big Shag Lake in Michigan. Carol was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and resided in Green Bay, Wis., for many years. She enjoyed her last 20 years of retirement in Arizona.

Surviving are her beloved children; Peter M. (Catherine) Thomas, of Milton, Wis., and Katherine L. (Thomas) Glinski, of New London, Wis., her grandchildren; Erin Thomas, Sarah Thomas, Leslie (Justin) Schoen, Leigh (Mike) Hamann, Kristen Thomas, Michelle Thomas, Geoffrey (Ariel) Johns, Stephen Thomas, J. Colin Thomas, two great-grandchildren and her daughter-in-law; Antoinette Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Stephen, her son, H. Charles Thomas, her sister Barbara Wilson and brother, Robert Sanregret.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Negaunee, Mich., with the Rev. James Martindale officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. Perala Funeral Home of Negaunee, Mich., is assisting the family.
