To the Journal editor:
On Tuesday, the voters of Marquette County will be asked to cast a vote for the Marquette County aging services millage. This renewal, which has not changed in the last six years, will be asking for approval of .4474 mills for the next six years.
Many senior services depend on the support of your millage dollar to sustain them. The four Marquette County senior centers, the senior nutrition program (Meals on Wheels), the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and Marquette Adult Day Services all receive millage money and rely on those funds to provide services to seniors.
The mission of the Marquette County Services to Senior Citizens millage is providing money so that our seniors will have funding to secure and insure their quality of life through independent living. Many of the activities and services that help seniors stay in their home are provided by your local senior centers throughout Marquette County.
Please consider how your vote will impact a large part of our senior population.
