ISHPEMING - The NICE Community Schools Board of Education has announced its hire of several new administrators to lead the district for the coming year.

Due to former Aspen Ridge School principal Brian DeAugustine stepping into the role of interim superintendent following the departure of former superintendent Michael Haynes, the NICE district has hired Linda Ludwig to serve as the Aspen Ridge K-8 principal.

Ludwig was a teacher at the Gwinn Area Community Schools for 12 years before serving as the elementary principal at North Star Academy.

Assisting Ludwig will be Jon Beckman, whose duties as district athletic director have been expanded to additionally serve as assistant principal at Aspen Ridge and Westwood High School for grades 6-12. Beckman has worked with the NICE district for 13 years as a teacher, coach and athletic director.

Westwood High School Principal David Boase will continue in his current position as the grade 9-12 principal, where he has served for 12 years, assisted by Beckman.

Completing the administrative staffing is Jared Koski, serving as the district's state and federal programs coordinator. Koski has previously worked as a speech and language pathologist through the Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency.

The NICE board completed its hiring of administrative staff in July.
