MARQUETTE, MI. - Long time Marquette resident Richard (Dick) C. Bolz died peacefully on July 27, 2012 after a short re-occurrence of cancer.

Dad spent his childhood in Cleveland, OH, is a WWII Army Infantry Veteran, a U of M graduate in Forestry, and worked for the DNR in many capacities for over 30 years. He retired in 1983 to spend quality time with his family and to travel. Dad traveled extensively and was proud that he visited all the National Parks. In his later years, winters were spent in Utah with his three sons and his summers in the UP. His skills with canoeing, camping, skiing and hiking; his passion for adventure, travel, Packer football, and nature; and his values for simplicity, honesty and hard work were consistently taught to his posterity through example and his unique sense of wit and humor.

Richard and his wife Venetia (later divorced, deceased in 2007) raised 5 children; Daniel (Ingrid), Utah, Tom (Kelli), Utah, Mike (Ava), Utah, Bonnie (Alan), Massachusetts, and Mary, Marquette. Richard is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Dad always remembered their birthdays by sending a card and gift.

Dad was able to spend his final weeks at camp, the place he loved to be, surrounded by his loving children, grandchildren and friends.

Special thanks to the hospice staff in Newberry. A memorial service is planned for next summer.
