Colleen S. DeRoche

ZEBA, MI. - Colleen S. DeRoche, age 52, of Zeba, passed away Friday, August 3, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She was born in L'Anse, MI on April 13, 1960 the daughter of William "Gene" Emery and Georgianna Curtis. She graduated from L'Anse High School in 1978 and attended Bay Mills College. Colleen married John DeRoche in Marquette in 2004. She most recently was a dispatcher for the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police. Colleen was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Tribal Youth Program, Pow Wow Committee for 3 years, Friday Night Bowling League, Baraga, and coached for Zeba Rez Runners. Colleen enjoyed doing arts and crafts, bowling, softball, and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Detroit Tiger fan.

Mrs. DeRoche is survived by her loving husband John, children Joshua (Tricia) Emery, Carmen Emery of Harvey, Janelle (Thomas) Hooper of Harvey, and Melissa McSawby (Arlan Boland) of Green Bay, WI, grandchildren, Cassie, Jamie, Kara, Joshua, Eli, Draven, Xander, Kade, Peyton, and soon to be Declan, great grandson Tyson, father William "Gene" (Gretchen) Emery, and sister Tracy Emery of Zeba. Nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members also survive. She was preceded in death by her mother Georgianna, grandparents George and Alice Curtis, William I. Emery, and Margaret Sipe, brother William Emery Jr., and granddaughter Vanessa Gauthier.

Funeral services for Mrs. DeRoche will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 6, 2012 from the Ojibwa Ceremonial Room, Baraga with Traditional Services and Pastor Steve Rhoades officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 5, 2012 starting at 4 p.m. at the Ojibwa Ceremonial Room. Interment will take place in the Pinery Cemetery, L'Anse. A luncheon will be held following the interment on Monday at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens Center, Baraga.
