To the Journal editor:
This election comes at an important time in our states history, and we need proven leadership down in Lansing. That's why I'm supporting John Kivela.
John has done an outstanding job as Mayor of Marquette the last four years. He has managed to lower taxes in the city while also maintaining its top notch public services.
He was one of the leading forces behind the senior millage of 2010 that took Marquette's senior center off the chopping block and gave it the necessary resources it needed.
He is also working hard to help make Sawyer International Airport an international shipping port. Imagine what our great local businesses can do across the Upper Peninsula if they could ship their products not just anywhere around the country but around the world.
He has taken a big leap of faith during this campaign by not take any money from Pac's or special interest groups. This move proves that he is an independent thinker who will only do what is best for Marquette, Alger, Luce, and Schoolcraft County's
The state of Michigan is rising from the depths it has fallen in over the last decade we need someone who has a shown the ability to serve well and that's John Kivela. If you want to read more information about John please go to kivelaforstaterep.com
Please join me in voting in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday and help make John the party's nominee.
