3 area residents enlist in Guard

Three are residents recently enlisted into the Michigan Army National Guard.

Included are:

The son of Kris A. MacArthur and Karen K. Johns of Munising, MacArthur will be assigned to Headquarter & Headquarters Company 107Th Engineer Battalion in Ishpeming as a combat engineer. He plans to continue his education at Northern Michigan University.

The daughter of Glenn S. and Kathy L. Smith of Brutus, Smith will attend basic training in September, followed by her advanced individual training at Fort Leonardwood, Mo.

She will be assigned to the 1437TH Engineering Company (Multi Role Bridge Company) in Sault Ste Marie as a bridge crewmember. She plans to continue her education at Northern Michigan University.

The son Samuel L. Johnson and Phyllis M.A. Johnson of Skandia, Johnson will be assigned to Headquarter & Headquarters Company 107Th Engineer Battalion in Ishpeming as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. He plans to continue his education at Northern Michigan University.
