MARQUETTE, MI. - Lyle Francis Dowell, Jr., age 65, of 465 Cherry Creek Road, Marquette, entered eternal life Friday morning, July 27, 2012.
Born October 4, 1946 in Detroit, a son of Lyle and Aline (DeFroy) Dowell, Sr., Lyle was raised in Dearborn. A Marquette area resident since 1972, he was employed as a carpenter, working through the carpentry trades and steel workers local unions. A family man at heart, Lyle dearly loved his family and had always done his best to support and care for his children. He also enjoyed cooking, downhill skiing, mushroom hunting, fishing, deer hunting, and all that nature had to offer. An accomplished painter and acrylic artist, he was also a writer and student of poetry. Lyle was a member of the Harvey Council Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy Lynn (fiancee, Chris Maksim) Dowell of Gwinn; sons, Emerson Dowell and Chadwick J. Dowell both of Marquette; his grandson, Ethan Jon Maksim; his mother, Aline Dowell of Dearborn; two brothers, Gary Dowell of Phoenix, AZ and Richard (Debra) Dowell of Brighton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lyle was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Dowell, Sr; a son, Joshua Dowell; and sister-in-law, Joanne.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 1, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Rev. Leon Jarvis, Marquette General Hospital chaplain, will preside.
