MARQUETTE, MI. - Robert G. Green, 89, of Marquette, passed away Saturday morning, July 28, 2012, after a brief illness, under the care of his family and UP Home Health & Hospice.
He was born December 24, 1922, in Marquette, a son of the late William and Edna (Magnuson) Green. He was a 1940 graduate of Graveraet High School and was a lifelong area resident.
On September 17, 1941 he married the former Agnes C. Parent at St. John's Catholic Church in Marquette.

Robert was a WWII veteran having served in the army as an engineer supervising the use of ordinance.
He was employed as a truck driver for Spears Trucking, a railroad fireman, a Marquette City police officer and as a metal lather in construction for 27 years.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, baking, crossword puzzles and was a master gardener.
He is survived by his wife Agnes Green of Marquette; children, Robert (Betty) Green, Jr. of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Sharon (Thomas) Laine of Lakewood, WI, Cheryl (George) DeVerney of Marquette and Ronald Green of Savage, MN; grandchildren, Lori, Darren, Jamie, Gregory, Brian, Wendy, Melissa, Becca, Shannon and Garrett; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth (James) Luke of Marquette; and a brother, James (Connie) Green of Manitowoc, WI; and a sister-in-law, Carol Green of Marquette. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carol Jenks in 2009; siblings, William Green, Margaret Johnson, Edward Green, Betty Price, Donald Green and Joe Green.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Larry VanDamme officiating. Entombment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery on Thursday.
