Marquette Fence takes Cal’s

Marquette Fence went undefeated in capturing the Cal's Party Store Sixth Annual Fastpitch Softball Tournament the weekend of July 20-22 in Marquette. Fence defeated M.O.S.T. of Marquette, 8-4, in the title game. Fence trailed 4-1 in the sixth before scoring seven runs, capped by Tyler Schwemin's game-winning single with the bases loaded and two outs and Zak Uren's three-run homer. Brian Harris of Fence was named the tourney's Most Valuable Hitter; M.O.S.T.'s Shea Tompson the MVP on defense and Kurt Kerry (M.O.S.T.) the pitching MVP. Fence will play in the state tournament Aug. 3-5 in Bay City and the World fastball tournament in Topeka, Kan., Aug. 15-19.
