ST. MARYS, Ga. - Marilyn Aili Hatara, age 68, of St. Marys, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly in Monday, July 23, 2012, at Brunswick Campus Hospital in Brunswick, Ga.
She was born March 3, 1944, in Negaunee, Mich., daughter to Arvid and Aili (Maki) Tarvainen. Marilyn graduated from L'Anse High School in 1962; then graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School in Detroit as a Registered Nurse. She married Pekka Hatara. Marilyn lived all over the country but most recently in St. Marys, Ga., for the past 9 years. She enjoyed nursing, and was an R.N. for 46 years; currently working for Hartland Hospice in Brunswick, Ga.
Surviving are her son Peter Hatara of Belleville, Mich.; brother Robert (Mary) Tarvainen of Covington, Mich.; granddaughters Tuija Hatara and Elizabeth Hatara.
Preceding her in death are her parents; son Harry Hatara; sisters Sadie Rosten, Helen Sliger; and brother Clarence Tarvainen.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 2 from 10 a.m to 12:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Reinsch officiating. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
