MARQUETTE, Mich. - Leonard G. Truscott, age 81, of 220 Northwoods Road, Marquette, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette where he had resided for the past 8 months.
Leonard was born November 5, 1930, in Negaunee, the son of Arthur and Gertrude (Gale) Truscott. He attended the Negaunee Schools and was a lifelong area resident. Leonard was a member of the Michigan Laborers Union, Local #1329 of Iron Mountain. He had worked as a Laborer for many companies mainly working on mine, school and hospital construction projects around the Upper Peninsula. At the time of his retirement he was employed by Champion Inc. out of Iron Mountain.
Leonard was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Ishpeming, and of the Ishpeming Beagle Club, where he enjoyed running his dogs and rabbit hunting. Each spring Leonard would plant his vegetable garden, which he would tend to throughout each summer.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Carol E. Truscott of Marquette; two sisters, Shirley Penland of Chandler, N.C., and Margaret Strebel of Green Bay, Wis.; 3 brothers, Arthur (Joan) Truscott of Ishpeming, William (Betty) Truscott of Marquette and Terry (DeeAnn) Truscott of Ishpeming; his mother-in-law, Joyce Lehto of Marquette; 2 sisters-in-law, Sally Truscott and Elaine Racine, both of Ishpeming; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Donald Truscott; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Edward Peterson; his father-in-law, Clifford Lehto; and a sister-in-law, Susan Lehto.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 1 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Warren Geier to officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery Columbarium.
