ISHPEMING - A 64-year-old National Mine woman was listed in critical condition at Marquette General Hospital this morning after being struck by a pickup truck in Ishpeming, according to police.
A news release issued by the Ishpeming Police Department stated that officers responded to a personal injury accident at approximately 12:04 p.m. Wednesday on N. Third Street, near the entrance to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame.
Police said the woman was crossing Third Street when she was struck by a southbound 1995 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 50-year-old Ely Township man. Police said the vehicle struck the woman shortly after exiting a parking lot.
The victim was taken to MGH by Bell Hospital EMS, where she underwent surgery for her injuries.
The driver was taken into custody on one charge of driving with a denied and revoked license, causing serious injury, a 5-year felony. He is currently lodged in the Marquette County Jail.
Ishpeming police are not releasing the names of the victim or the driver at this time.
The Ishpeming Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office and the Ishpeming Fire Department.
