Police: Marquette man killed in Detroit

MARQUETTE - A Marquette man has been killed in Detroit, according to the Marquette Police Department.

On Thursday afternoon, Antone Adrian Ramos, 21, was found in an abandoned apartment building located on the 1400 block of Detroit's Webb Street, according to an MPD news release. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.

According to a crime summary report from the Detroit Police Department, officers responded at 2:50 p.m. and located an unidentified male, deceased, with a possible gunshot wound to the body.

The same report states the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown and that there are no suspects in the crime.

DPD officers then located an abandoned pickup truck near the crime scene and were able to trace it to a Marquette resident. According to the MPD, Ramos was friends with the owners of the truck and had borrowed the vehicle on July 11 or July 12.

The truck's owner was contacted on Sunday and Ramos' family identified his body on Monday.

Ramos is a 2009 graduate of Marquette Senior High School, where he played basketball. He also played basketball at Gogebic Community College during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Marquette police are working with the DPD's Homicide Unit on the investigation. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to call the MPD at 906-228-0400.
